Speech with Sarah is a mobile speech therapy practice. This means that we come to YOU: your home, your child's daycare or private school, or a nearby library.
Currently, Speech with Sarah provides services in Central Denver: from near Colfax and Sheriden to the Hilltop neighborhood.
Speech with Sarah is out of network with all providers except Colorado Medicaid. We have limited spots set aside for Medicaid clients.
All other clients pay a cash rate via check or our payment processor (IvyPay).
Speech with Sarah does not interact directly with your insurance, but we can provide you guidance and adjust superbills as needed if you choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance.
Credentialing with and billing insurance is extremely time consuming for providers, and comes with many "strings attached." As a cash pay practice, we can see your child as often as they need for as long as they need with no delays in service due to prior authorizations, referrals, or issues with copays and deductibles.
No time spent billing insurance means we spend more time focusing on your child: their likes, interests, strengths, and what they need most to achieve their goals.
Many insurance companies have specific criteria for approving speech therapy sessions: they require specific diagnoses, specific timelines, specific amounts of services. Not using insurance means your child gets what they need without annoying red tape.
Families always have the option to submit for reimbursement from their insurance. We can provide you with a set of questions to ask your insurance prior to starting services.
In many ways, there is more price transparency with a cash pay practice than going through insurance. You know exactly what you will pay up-front: no coinsurance, no deductibles, no maximum visit allowances, etc.
Phone consultations are always free.
For other services:
Medicaid clients: It depends on your plan. You will receive information once we pull your eligibility information from HCPF.
Cash pay clients: Session costs depend on session type and length.
The average cash rate for ongoing speech therapy in Denver is $120-150/hour.
The average cost of evaluation depends on how many areas will be evaluated and the complexity of the evaluation. The range is $350-$800 for an evaluation.
Dyslexia evaluations start at $1300. These evaluations often include 6-8 hours of standardized testing, interpretation, report-writing, and an hour-long meeting to share findings with the family.
You will be informed of the exact cost of your evaluation or speech appointments prior to your first session.
First, reach out! Send an email or set up a call. We will discuss your child, your concerns, and ensure there is a spot in our schedule for ongoing therapy.
You will complete intake paperwork and consents through our electronic medical record system (OwlPractice).
We will schedule your initial evaluation. This is a necessary step in the speech therapy process, so we can ensure we are targeting exactly what your child needs as efficiently as possible.
After the evaluation, we will begin ongoing speech therapy. These are typically 30-45 minute appointments 1-2 times per week.
Every child is different.
Some children need therapy for multiple years, and some children are ready to "graduate" after about 12 months. Some children even graduate from therapy to come back later to focus on newly challenging sounds.
You will receive ongoing feedback on how your child is doing in terms of working towards their goals.
Teletherapy is an option for most clients. It depends on the age and area of need.
Our preference is in-person sessions, but hybrid and as-needed teletherapy is also an option. We are flexible to meet the needs of your child and your family's busy schedule.
